Representation
Whoever you are and whatever you study, the Students' Union is here to enrich students' lives by representing you on the key issues at Surrey and making positive change.
At the Students' Union, we're run by a team of 26 Officers who are all elected by students, but we also work closely to train and support hundreds of student volunteers who represent you alongside their studies on issues affecting particular groups.
Course Reps
Have you got an academic issue within your Department/School? Over the year, we train and work with over 500 Course Representatives who represent students at every level of every course - from first year undergraduates through to final-year PhD students.
Your Course Rep will be invited to all the key University meetings in your area and given the opportunities to share your feedback with staff on a regular basis each semester. If you'd like to find out more about Course Reps, just hit the button below.
Liberation Network
The Students' Union also coordinates the Liberation Network - a new volunteer network of current students who campaign and take part in events to promote the interests of liberation groups of the Surrey community - whether that's LGBT, People of Colour, Disability, and so on.
Elections
All of your student representatives are elected by you - whether that's your first Course Rep or the Students' Union President. All elections are coordinated by the Voice Zone to ensure that you have your say over the following:
- Course Reps
- Club and Society Signatories
- The Students' Union Priority Campaign (Make Your Change)
- Officer Elections (Surrey Decides)
Our biggest election event is our annual Students' Union Officer elections, Surrey Decides, which takes place at the start of the second semester each year. If you'd like to find out more about how you can get involved in Surrey Decides or other elections, check out the information below or get in touch with the Voice Zone.
Campaigns
Throughout the year, the Students' Union coordinates a range of events, activities, and campaigns. But, if you're part of a campaigning society or group of students that want to help make Surrey better together, we can also provide training materials, development support, and funding for you to get started.
