Voice Zone Updates
The Voice Zone is here for students that have something to say! Here's a selection of what your elected Voice Zone Officers have been up to so far this year.
Course Reps & Academic Representation
Throughout the year, the Union works with our team of Course Reps. For October 2019, the Voice Zone has worked with the University to make Rep elections more engaging and consistent. The Voice Zone has democracy at its heart so we want to ensure that all students interested in becoming a Course Rep can experience the same process, making things fairer and more inclusive!
We've been working on training for 195 Course Reps elected in May and over the coming weeks, we can't wait to start working with the remaining Reps being elected right now.

Influencing the Union
Throughout October, the Voice Zone led on 'Make Your Change' - the opportunity for any student to suggest an idea for the next big Students' Union campaign. Over 130 ideas were submitted, with our priority campaign for the year 'Sustainability: A Greener Surrey'.
We'll also be launching a new campaign platform in November to help support students who want to lead their own activities throughout the year - to find out more, just message Ajay at
ussu.vpvoice@surrey.ac.uk.

Officer Success
Building on Ajay’s introduction of the ‘liberated library’ curated collection last year (for which she is contributing for Black History Month this October), she is launching
Ajay’s
Bookclub to promote diversity in literature.
The University have now agreed to a collaborative project to raise the visibility of events celebrating diversity (particularly those led by societies) through a central calendar.
